四谷シモンは、４月２３日から６月１２日まで、英国ブライトン市のブライトン
・ミュージアム・アンド・アートギャラリーで開催される「人びとと人形展
Guys and Dolls」にパネル展示で参加します。
同展は、人びとと人形のかかわりを探究し、ジュモーやブドワール人形、ファッ
ション・マネキン、解剖模型などさまざまなコンセプトの人形とアートとしての
人形を集めた展覧会。アート作品としては、オスカー・ココシュカの作品とそれ
に関する手紙、ハンス・ベルメール作品などが展示される予定です。
≪ This exhibition will explore the ways in which dolls, in a variety of forms, have been used as vehicles for reinforcing and questioning the cultural and social roles men and women play in society. The definition of dolls in this context has been widened to include forms not ususlly associated with the traditional concept of the doll as a child's plaything. Mannequins, anatomical wax models, the ventriloquist dummy and 'love' dolls will feature prominently as either objects or images alongside examples of artists' and filmmaker's work that has relied heavily on the use of the dolls. ≫
